    [ DNA ] The Spadaconcept has its origins in one of the most important car designers ever: Ercole Spada. He was born in 1937 in Busto Arsizio (Varese): passionate about cars and design since childhood, he graduated as an industrial expert in 1956 and four years later he joined Zagato. At only 20 years old Ercole Spada begins to be known in the car design environment thanks to two projects that symbolize his stylistic philosophy, based on lightness and aerodynamics: the Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ and the Aston Martin DB4 GTZ, of the latter have built only 25 pieces and the value exceeds 10 million euros. In the 60s he took care of the iconic cars of Alfa Romeo and Lancia signed Zagato, starting with the Alfa Romeo 2600 SZ and the Lancia Flavia Sport in '62, in 1963 it’s up to the Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ and TZ 2 and the Lancia Flaminia Super Sport, in 1965 the Lancia Fulvia Sport is introduced while four years later the Alfa Romeo Junior Z arrives in the list. After a short period in Audi Spada is called by BMW and in the early 80s contributes to the creation of two very important cars of the Bavarian brand: the 3rd generation of the 5 series and the 2nd generation of the 7 series. Ercole returned to Italy in 1983 to work at the I.de.A Institute and in the Turin atelier he worked on the design of five Fiat Group models built on the same platform to lower production costs. The request of the leaders of the Piedmontese colossus is to create five completely different cars and Spada succeeds perfectly by creating the Fiat Tipo (1988), the Lancia Dedra (1989), the Fiat Tempra (1990), the Alfa Romeo 155 (1992) and the second generation of the Lancia Delta (1993). In 1992 he returns to Zagato and makes the Ferrari FZ93, a dream car with the mechanics of the Ferrari Testarossa. ​ The passion for the automotive is handed down from father (Ercole) to son (Paolo). In fact, since his birth in 1970 Paolo Spada grew up in an extremely creative environment, so much so that he attended the course of Transportation Design at IED - Istituto Europeo di Design - and above all he founded the Spadaconcept studio in 2007. Together they designed the Codatronca which in 2008 was officially presented at the Montecarlo Motor Show. The car is characterized by a clean cut of the tail (hence the name) and comes from an intuition on the aerodynamics applied to the vehicle. And when he asked Giugiaro how it felt to have drawn the story, the man who invented the Panda - something more than a car - answered like a true Piedmontese: «Let’s not exaggerate, we have only designed boxes». The same elegant modesty also comes from Ercole Spada, who first had the courage to cut the tail of the cars and gave life to the Aston Martin that preceded the model driven by 007: «My career started with a stroke of luck at the bottom, I was only 23 years old when I was given the task of designing this wonderful car: I was asked how I was doing in drawing and I replied that sure, I was an ace», said the winner. Questa vettura porta agilità, aerodinamica e leggerezza, che sono i cromosomi delle auto di Ercole Spada e dei futuri modelli Spadaconcept. Secondo Paolo Spada, questo modello potrebbe essere l'erede dell'Alfa Romeo TZ ed è costruito in serie limitata su telaio Corvette, sul quale verrà applicata una nuova carrozzeria e sospensioni. Anche la meccanica e il motore della Corvette sono stati aggiornati con alcune soluzioni high tech da Spadaconcept e dai suoi partner tecnici. Designed by Ercole Spada, a highly respected automotive designer in Italy and abroad. The latter defined the particular lines of the car, characterized by compact dimensions (it was only 4.09 meters long) and by a very low body (1.15 in height), with a two-seater passenger compartment. As Andrea Zagato and Shozo Fujita all that remained was to finally decide the brand of this car and this decision proved to be one of the most difficult and uncertain, so much so that even today it is still the subject of some discussions. Officially the name dusted off was however that of the OSCA, famous during the middle of the last century for its racing cars. In fact with the OSCA of the fifties and sixties of the twentieth century, the 2500 GT has some stylistic points in common, for example the choice of fairing headlights, a typical design of the sports cars of that period. The very low car body itself, combined with the compact proportions (even the overall dimensions were not exaggerated) recalls the characteristics of the classic period of Italian sports cars. Even the tail, with its particular raised design in the central area, is very reminiscent of both the style of the time and the professional DNA of Andrea Zagato, who grew up professionally in the family atelier, even if one cannot speak strictly of the typical “humps “that characterize the cars bodied by Zagato . A similar stylistic habit typical of Zagato can instead be found on the roof, where there are two bulges in correspondence of the two seats. Finally, even the glass surfaces are a tribute to the classicism of the car, in particular the panoramic rear window and windshield. There are also some concessions to modernity, for example in the queue, where the great air extractor stands out. The 2500 GT was born from a tubular steel frame, light but resistant, on which MacPherson type front and rear suspensions with lower triangles and longitudinal arms were mounted. Two stabilizing bars were also mounted on the two axes. The engine chosen was of Subaru origin, and more precisely the 2457 cm³ unit already present on the Subaru Legacy of that period and capable of delivering a maximum power of 187 HP at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 235 Nm at 2800 r / min. With an empty mass of 780 kg, the car reached a top speed of almost 250 hours, covering the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 6 seconds.

Codatronca barchetta Codatronca barchetta Codatronca barchetta Codatronca barchetta 1/7 Codatronca barchetta Codatronca barchetta Codatronca barchetta Codatronca barchetta 1/8 Down Also the mechanical base resumes what already seen on the TS, that is the mighty V8 engine of Corvette Z06 origin, of the displacement of 7011 cc, revised and made even more powerful thanks to the help of two volumetric compressors Rotrex C38 Italtecnica, which largely contribute to bringing the maximum power of the car from the original 513 hp of the Z06 to 720 hp available on the Codatronca Monza (against 620 hp of the Berlinetta version), and is also available a considerable amount of torque, which finds its apex at 883 Nm. With such a cavalry and thanks to an empty weight limited to just 1,180 kg, the car can reach a maximum speed of 335 km/h, covering the shot from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds. As for the structure, a tubular aluminum alloy frame is used with a low weight, but also composite body panels. The steering wheel is very particular since it's equipped with real-time data acquisition system and another system for the control of a camera integrated in the car, so that you can create a high definition video of the performance of the car on the track. Even the cockpit makes use of lightweight materials and strictly racing look inspiration. ​ For the production in small series, the Codatronca Monza has also been proposed with a less extreme variant of its engine, able however to deliver the considerable power of 500 CV. In addition, wealthy buyers who want to close one in their garage can also have the car set up in a less spartan, and indeed as a real luxury roadster, with leather interior and alcantara, hi-fi system, a specific dashboard and even the air conditioner and a higher windshield and equipped with wiper. A super-sports coupe, made in a semi-artisanal manner by SVS (Spada Vetture Sport). It was first presented in Italy in September 2008 at the Monza Autodromo, while the absolute preview was at the Top Marques in Monaco in April of the same year. On that occasion, Damon Hill unveiled the car, which was awarded by the New York Times as the most beautiful car in the competition. ​ The idea comes from the audacity of Paolo and Ercole Spada, illustrious Italian automotive designers. The name Codatronca is a dive into the past for classic car enthusiasts, a tribute to the aerodynamic competition bodies that Ercole Spada applied to models such as the Giulietta SZ and Giulia TZ during his years at Zagato and Alfa Romeo. The Codatronca TS itself is designed starting from the imposing rear, the most distinctive part due to the tail and the central dual exhaust terminal topped by a glass hood. The lines are few and clear and define a muscular, square and angular profile. The interiors also do not betray the supersports vocation, thanks to the racing-style steering wheel and ergonomic seats. A design of great impact that combines the sports tradition with inspiration absorbed from the world of aeronautics. ​ From a technical standpoint, the SVS Codatronca TS is powered by a 7-liter aluminum V8 engine, capable of producing a maximum power of 630 CV at a speed of 6,500 RPM. The transmission is six-speed and the engine is capable of pushing the car up to 340 km/h and reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3,4 s.
